Apple stops development of AirPort routers

In a not so surprising move, the company Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), stopped the development of AirPort routers used by quite a large number of customers around the world. Those from Cupertino reorganized the teams that develop these products, the engineers being moved to teams that develop other products that Apple wants to launch on the market.

With products not released for 3 years in this category, the Apple company thought that the engineers who develop them could be used more usefully in other divisions. More precisely, Apple relocated employees to divisions that develop products for consumers, which also generate the largest part of the Americans' income.

Apple has had quite big discounts on the AirPort series for some time, and considering that it hasn't released a new model in more than 3 years, its fate was clear. Now things have been finalized and those who still had hopes that Apple will launch any AirPort router, have no reason to hope for such a thing.

Considering that it will no longer sell routers, the Apple company would recommend alternative products from partner manufacturers to its customers. This is already happening with the MacBook Pro series and the 5K monitor developed by LG especially for these laptops, so the AirPort series is going to completely disappear from Apple's offer.

"Apple Inc. has disbanded its division that develops wireless routers, another move to try to sharpen the company's focus on consumer products that generate the bulk of its revenue, according to people familiar with the matter. Apple began shutting down the wireless router team over the past year, dispersing engineers to other product development groups, including the one handling the Apple TV."

  1. Daaa…. Intr-adevar, pacat!

  2. Am si eu unul dar nu e ok, din nefericire .In teorie pe Ac ar atinge 1300 mbps dar in practica nu am trecut de 200 mbps . In rest e stabil, usor de instalat ,etc

  3. @MrUnivers: Ce abonament ai? Verifica….
