iOS 10.1.1 – battery and EarPods problems

iOS 10.1.1 generates major problems with battery autonomy, but also with all EarPods, users complaining on Apple's discussion forums.

iOS 10.1.1 has been released by Apple for some time, and users are reporting major problems with two of its basic functions used with iDevices. More precisely, we are talking about problems with the batteries of the terminals, but also with the microphone of the EarPods headphones, Apple's discussion forums being attacked by users who complain about them.

iOS 10.1.1 – battery problems and “out of the blue” shutdowns

Many iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch users complain about the fact that after installing iOS 10.1.1 they discovered a series of major problems with the batteries of the terminals. More precisely, the percentage of energy displayed as available in them varies greatly without any logic and without intensive use of the terminals to generate battery discharge.

Some users, and not only iPhone 6S users, complain about the fact that their terminals shut down "suddenly" during use, even with at least 30% of the energy displayed as available in the battery. In other cases, the battery of the terminals strangely discharges overnight, tens of percent disappearing without the devices being used by users.

"1 - It jumps from 30% charge to 1% in a few seconds then shuts down. 2 – Shutting the phone down at night with a good 80% charge, it won't reboot in the morning due to no battery charge. I plug it in and its back to 30% in a few seconds."

The worst part is that all these problems seem to vary between iOS 10.2 and iOS 10.2 beta 3, so basically users have nothing to use to get rid of the sudden downloads and closings "out of the blue". The Apple company is, of course, aware of these problems, but it does not seem to be willing to solve them even so quickly, otherwise the beta versions would have already had the problem solved.

Problems with EarPods and the integrated microphone

The second problem that gives users a lot of headaches is centered around the EarPods, which stop working. For some users we are talking about the disappearance of the sound from the headphones during phone calls, while for others the microphone stops working for calls.

Regardless of the situation, it seems that restarting the terminal temporarily solves the problem, but there is no solution that solves it completely, not even from Apple. All the recommendations made, including by the employees, solve the problem temporarily, it suddenly reappears during a phone call made by users using EarPods.

"No audio until I restart or if in a call after pressing the speaker button," explains poster veranoso. "I have gone a few times to the Apple Store and they have not been able to help. The thing is that if you restart the device it will resolve for a moment but it will come again. I have erased my device completely and lost all my stuff to see if that helped but there is no real improvement.”

Both cases have generated long discussions on the Apple forums and will probably be resolved at one point or another, perhaps even with iOS 10.2.
