Christmas lights reduce Wi-Fi signal strength

British researchers have recently noticed that Christmas lights reduce the strength of the WI-FI signal.

Apparently, the cables from the Christmas lights have an effect on the radio waves in the house, but these are not the only electrical installations that can cause disturbances, the same is true for microwave ovens, older Bluetooth devices, or cordless phones. They all got the mention from Cisco, which explains their interference with Wi-Fi.

The OFCOM agency in Great Britain warns that several devices connected to the same socket with the Wi-Fi router could contribute to slowing down the Internet and, to prevent network problems, you should connect the lights as far as possible from the Wi-Fi router Christmas.

Also, OFCOM launched an application to check the interference of the lights in the proper functioning of the wireless. Unfortunately, the application is only available in the UK.
