Apple's warning about counterfeit chargers

The Apple company recently published a warning about the many counterfeit chargers that are available for sale in markets around the world. We are talking about a variety of chargers manufactured by unknown manufacturers and which are sold as compatible with iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch, although they can destroy the terminals or kill people.

The warning comes 2 months after Apple sued a company that sold counterfeit cables and chargers on Amazon. Apple then also accused Amazon of selling such accessories and endangering the lives of customers, Amazon removing from sale extremely many products of this kind, they being offered at very low prices.

Before filing a lawsuit against Amazon, Apple tested over 100 chargers sold by the online store and discovered that 90% of them are counterfeit. Based on this discovery, the Apple company recommends customers to use only authorized chargers sold through the Apple Store, or various partners.

Moreover, Apple says that these chargers can negatively affect the battery life of our iPhones, iPads and iPod Touches. This has been explained repeatedly, but due to the lack of money, many choose bad quality chargers, although in the end they end up paying more to repair their terminals.

"Beware of counterfeit parts. Some counterfeit and third party power adapters and batteries may not be designed properly and could result in safety issues. To ensure you receive a genuine Apple battery during a battery replacement, we recommend visiting an Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider. If you need a replacement adapter to charge your Apple device, we recommend getting an Apple power adapter.”
