Un earthquake took place in Romania last night, with a magnitude of 5.3 - 5.6 degrees on the Richter scale, quite a lot of people felt it. This is the second big earthquake in Romania this year, the previous one happened just a few months ago and had a magnitude of over 5 degrees on the Richter scale, so many people are starting to wonder if another bigger one will follow.
A few years ago, when the idea of an earthquake generated fear in the minds of many Romanians, there was an application in the AppStore called Alerta Cutremur Vrancea, which promised to save us. This application promised to send an earthquake alert a few tens of seconds before the seismic wave reaches people, being directly connected to the Earth Physics Institute.
The application that was supposed to save us in the event of an earthquake had a selling price of 10 euros, and this was to be able to function and send rescue push notifications. In the absence of any major earthquake that would motivate Romanians to spend a large sum on such an application, it was withdrawn from the AppStore in the meantime, some also saying that its functionality was not even up to the promises.
Earthquake in Romania - is there an iPhone application that can notify you in real time?
At the moment, there is no application in the AppStore that has a similar functionality in case of an earthquake, so there is no one to warn us in case of one. Of course, until now there was no need for such a thing in Romania, but there is always a chance that a strong earthquake will occur, so everyone wants to be completely safe.
No one knows why the project to keep the iPhone earthquake app running was abandoned, but there are certainly people who regret it. Unfortunately, there are no indications that another application with a similar functionality could not protect in the event of an earthquake in the future, projects of this kind not being developed at the moment.
The problem with earthquake applications is that not everyone can be notified in real time when the INFP registers an earthquake. In this idea, the only real protection in the event of an earthquake remains the preparation you can do in advance in case you are surprised by one, your actions in those seconds being able to save your life.
