And if the iPhone 8 will no longer have Touch ID?

iPhone 8 could have an iris scanner instead of Touch ID and the fingerprint reader, the Apple company being able to make a radical change.

iPhone 8 is going to be launched in the fall of this year, but if Apple decides to abandon Touch ID in favor of a new biometric authentication system? Lately, rumors have started to appear suggesting that the iPhone 8 will have an integrated iris scanner to allow us to protect the data in our devices with something other than a passcode.

The integration of an iris scanner in the iPhone 8 may seem at least strange, until we seriously consider the fact that the screen will cover almost the entire front panel. We already know that Apple will offer in the iPhone 8 a screen whose dimensions cover the edges of the front panel, and the Home button will be completely removed from the device based on this change prepared by Apple.

Without a Home button, Apple will be forced to implement the fingerprint reader for Touch ID under the iPhone 8 screen, or in the terminal case. Considering that the iPhone 8 will have a case made of a whole piece of glass, it is hard to believe that a fingerprint reader will be integrated into it, unless Apple will insert it in the logo, which is unlikely.

And if the iPhone 8 will no longer have Touch ID?

There is the option for the iPhone 8 to have a fingerprint reader integrated under the screen of the device, but the technology itself is not simple and complicates the production process a lot. In this idea, the possibility of Touch ID being transformed into something that allows us to scan our iris to secure the iPhone 8 terminals can be discussed.

It would be simpler for Apple to completely abandon the fingerprint reader in favor of an iris scanner and that will simplify the production of the iPhone 8. An iris scanner would also be much safer than a fingerprint reader in many ways, but it would take up and less space in the iPhone 8 case, leaving room for possible other components.

I don't know how appreciated a change like this would be and I don't know how many people will appreciate an iris scanner instead of an iPhone 8 fingerprint reader, but it could come. From my point of view, replacing the fingerprint reader of the iPhone 8 with an iris scanner could be a wrong decision on the part of Apple, but at some point fingerprint readers will disappear anyway.
