Vodafone announces record Internet traffic on Valentine's Day

Vodafone offered free internet for all its customers on Valentine's Day as part of the initiatives to celebrate the anniversary of 20 years of activity in Romania. Considering that all customers were able to use the internet for free in the Vodafone network, the operator also announced a traffic record recorded during the day of February 14.

According to those from Vodafone, the counties where the biggest increase in traffic was registered are Ialomita, Constanta, Giurgiu, Prahova, Vrancea, Galati and Calarasi. Although in the previous cases in which it offered free traffic, Vodafone announced substantial increases in traffic in Bucharest and Ilfov, now it seems that other counties are in the forefront of growth.

Considering that during Valentine's Day many people were looking for gifts, Vodafone announced that the traffic peak was recorded at 20:50. Of the total internet traffic generated in the Vodafone network, 57% was made by subscribers of the mobile phone operator, and 43% by prepaid card users.

Regarding the breakdown of usage, those from Vodafone say that video streaming was in first place in the top of users' preferences. Browsing the Internet and using social networks follow in the top of preferences, and the order is somewhat normal, considering the way Vodafone promotes video streaming.

Bucharest, February 15, 2017 – Vodafone Romania recorded a data traffic record on Valentine's Day, which marked the beginning of its 20-year anniversary campaign. The operator's mobile users benefited from the opportunity to celebrate this special day with their loved ones by enjoying their favorite content and sharing their feelings and emotions.

The biggest increase in hourly traffic of data managed by the Supernet™ 4G+ network was of Present in several = 53%and peak data consumption was recorded at the time 20:50 and was with % Higher 33 compared to a normal day. The counties that recorded the highest increase in data traffic throughout the day were Ialomita, Constanța, Giurgiu, Prahova, Vrancea, Galati and Călăraşi.

The highest consumption recorded on February 14, 2017 was generated by video streaming, followed by surfing the internet and by social media.
