iPhone 7 it will not help Apple to match its sales recorded in 2016 in the first two fiscal quarters of this year. American analysts are of the opinion that iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus will not attract enough interest from customers to maintain sales of iPhone terminals at the same level as in 2016.
According to analysts, sales of iPhone terminals with iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus in the foreground are going to decrease by almost 3 million units in Q1 2017 compared to Q1 2016. More precisely, with iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus on sale, sales of iPhone terminals in this fiscal quarter will decrease from 51.2 million units to 48.5 million units.
This decrease in sales is put by analysts, partially, on the basis of the fact that Q1 2017 will have one week less because Q4 2016 was one week longer. The decrease of 2.7 million units will certainly be based on this difference, but the big problem is the lack of interest of consumers vis-à-vis iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.
iPhone 7 - decrease in sales compared to 2016
Although iPhone sales will decrease in Q1 and Q2 2017 due to the lack of interest in iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, Apple's profit will not be affected to a large extent. American analysts attribute this to the fact that the interest in the iPhone 7 Plus is higher than that for the iPhone 6S Plus last year, so part of the decrease in receipts will be compensated.
Analysts believe that iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus will represent 85% of the total sales of iPhone terminals in these fiscal quarters, compared to the iPhone 6S series which represented 75% last year. Although the sales share of iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus will increase compared to the previous series, the lower interest in them will lead to this decrease in sales.
Thanks to the iPhone 7 Plus, the average selling price of the iPhone in Q1 and Q2 2017 will be $685 and $616, compared to $641 and $595 in the same period last year. Having said that, American analysts do not foresee a very bright future for the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus before the iPhone 8 launch.
