MacPro 2017 was launched, Apple announces a new model in 2018

Mac Pro 2017 was released today by the Apple company and we are only talking about an update made for the models released in 2013, this being minor. Specifically, the $3000 model of the Mac Pro now comes with processors that have 6 cores instead of 4, a dual AMD G500 graphics card being offered instead of the AMD G300 integrated until now.

The $4000 model of the 2017 Mac Pro comes with processors that have 8 cores instead of 6 cores, and in the case of AMD graphics cards, the new D800 models are offered instead of the D500. These are the only novelties brought by these two models of Mac Pro 2017, the Apple company preparing major improvements for models that will be launched in 2018.

More precisely, Mac Pro 2018 will have a modular design created by Apple to facilitate the exchange of old components with new ones. This modular design would not only allow customers to upgrade their Mac Pros themselves, but would also allow Apple to release hardware updates for this product line more frequently.

Apple has admitted that it made a fundamental mistake with the design of the Mac Pro 2013, as it is not that easy to improve over time. Moreover, the way in which Apple implemented the graphics cards for the 2013 Mac Pro turned out to be different from the choices of the manufacturers of this type of components, so there will be big changes for the 2018 model.

Apart from Mac Pro 2018, the Apple company has also prepared a new type of screen for those who buy such computers from the company. Moreover, Apple recognized the fact that its laptops are much more popular than the iMac or Mac Pro, and this is the explanation for the major interest given to these models.

It is not known how much all the new products that will be launched next year by Apple will cost, nor exactly when they will arrive on the market, but we are talking about major improvements being prepared.

"Apple is today releasing meager speed-bump updates to the existing Mac Pros. The $2999 model goes from 4 Xeon CPU cores to 6, and from dual AMD G300 GPUs to dual G500 GPUs. The $3999 model goes from 6 CPU cores to 8, and from dual D500 GPUs to dual D800 GPUs.

Apple is currently hard at work on a "completely rethought" Mac Pro, with a modular design that can accommodate high-end CPUs and big honking hot-running GPUs, and which should make it easier for Apple to update with new components on a regular basis base. As part of doing a new Mac Pro — it is, by definition, a modular system — we will be doing a pro display as well.

At some point [Apple] came to the conclusion that the 2013 Mac Pro concept was fundamentally flawed.”
