iMac 2017 – Intel Kaby Lake, a new screen and VR support

iMac 2017 was announced by the Apple company this evening, and here we are talking about models that have screens with a brightness of up to 500 nits, 10-bit dithering and 1 billion colors. The new iMac 2017 has the latest generation Intel Kaby Lake processors, so we are talking about much better performance.

Next, iMac 2017 will have support for HEVC video and the possibility to integrate up to 64 GB of RAM on the 27-inch models, or 32 GB for the 21.5-inch ones. On the storage side, iMac 2017 will bring Fusion Drive to all 27-inch models, SSDs being up to 50% faster, standard storage media being up to 2 TB.

iMac 2017 will also come with two Thunderbolt 3 ports, so more accessories can be connected than previous models.

On the graphics side, iMac 2017 will have Intel Iris Plus 640 video cards, with performances that increase by up to 80% compared to previous models. Models with 21.5-inch screens will have Radio Pro 555 and 560 video cards with up to 4 GB of VRAM, while 27-inch models will have AMD Radeon 570, 575 and 580 video cards with up to 8 GB of VRAM.

Apple will also offer support for virtual reality, so the new iMac 2017 models will have excellent performance from this point of view.
