Apple Watch with micro-LED display will be launched by Apple

Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), currently uses micro-LED screens for the Apple Watch, but his "dream" is to switch to micro-LED screens, which he has been developing for several years. In order to achieve this goal, the Apple company has set in motion a plan that should bring this type of screen to the Apple Watch during 2018, with test production starting in 2017.

In 2014, Apple bought a company specialized in the development of micro-LED screens and has several teams that improve the technology for use in final products. If Apple manages to implement micro-LED screens in the Apple Watch in 2018, then it will substantially reduce the dependence it now has on Samsung or LG companies.

Micro-LED screens are thinner and lighter compared to OLED ones, but at the same time consume less energy, having a larger range of colors. Basically, Apple would only benefit from the implementation of micro-LED technology in the Apple Watch and is trying hard to prepare everything it needs to do that.

The final plan of the Apple company is to offer the micro-LED technology in the iPhone, and if the Apple Watch is successful, then maybe in 2019 it will reach the iPhone. Until then, Apple remains with OLED screens and will use them not only in the Apple Watch, but also in the iPhone starting in 2017, but this choice could be a short-lived one for Americans.

"Apple is working very hard to foster the micro-LED technology... the company could push the use of new display tech as early as next year. At this point, Apple is the only company who is able to roll out micro-LED, a technology that is still at an early stage of development, and cover the high costs incurred by the low yield rate,"
