Samsung Galaxy S8 – officially inferior iPhone 7 Plus

The Samsung Galaxy S8 is officially inferior to the iPhone 7 Plus, with AnTuTu confirming the difference in performance between the two smartphones.

Samsung Galaxy S8 it is "officially" inferior to the iPhone 7 PLus, and this is not only from performance tests regarding real-world use, but also from synthetic ones. Those from AntuTu have published the list of the best performing smartphones on the market in April, and the Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus is surpassed by the iPhone 7 Plus including in this benchmarking application.

You can see in the image below the AnTuTu list of the best performing smartphones in April, the iPhone 7 Plus being slightly ahead of the Samsung Galaxy S8. The difference in the points obtained in the AnTuTu performance test between Samsung Galaxy S8 and iPhone 7 Plus is only 5000 points, that is, less than 5% of the total recorded by both terminals.

The score difference between the two models of the Samsung Galaxy S8 is similar, so the iPhone 7 Plus is placed at a similar distance from both models.

It is interesting that although the iPhone 7 Plus is above the Samsung Galaxy S8 series in terms of performance, the iPhone 7 terminal has inferior performance. The difference between iPhone 7 and Samsung Galaxy S8 is not big, but it still suggests that the extra GB of RAM in iPhone 7 Plus brings a big increase in performance and is used in almost all tasks.

iPhone 7 Plus – officially faster than the Samsung Galaxy S8

There is also the possibility that the iPhone 7 model had a slower memory, but the same could be said about the Samsung Galaxy S8. We know that the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus with 32 GB memory are a bit slower than the 64/128 GB models, and in the case of the Samsung Galaxy S8 things are similar because UFS 2.0 and 2.1 memories are used seemingly randomly.

The test results put iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, Samsung Galaxy S8 and Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus in the top of the best performing smartphones in April. The results did not change in May, otherwise AnTuTu would have published a different ranking, so that iPhone 7 Plus and Samsung Galaxy S8 are the king and "principle" of smartphones in terms of performance.

Although not listed here, the HTC U11 performs better than the Samsung Galaxy S8 in some tests, with 176.000 points recorded, remaining below the iPhone 7 Plus. Considering that the HTC U11 was launched in June, only the ranking published in July will confirm the fact that it surpasses the Samsung Galaxy S8, but remains below the iPhone 7 Plus.
