Apple and IKEA collaborate for augmented reality

Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), si IKEA have initiated a collaboration that aims to provide a very advanced augmented reality application for the giant retailer of home products. We are talking about an augmented reality application that will work in iOS 11 and for which those from Apple and IKEA are working hard during this period with the idea of offering it to users.

Those from IKEA claim that the new application is specially designed to help customers buy products in a smarter way, Apple contributing to the integration with the functions of iOS 11. With the help of this new application developed by IKEA, customers will be able to place virtual furniture in their own home, to know what to buy to fit better in their home.

IKEA claims that the application is so advanced that iOS 11 users will be able to buy products even without going to the stores, the idea being to fit them more easily at home. IKEA also announced that all new products will arrive in the application first, so they will be able to be tried by customers more simply and easily, and then ordered online.

IKEA claims that the augmented reality technology developed by Apple allows the placement of furniture objects in the house with a precision of a few millimeters and 500-600 products will initially be available. We are talking about a revolution in the field of online sales of furniture items, because those customers who have the opportunity to place the products in the house to see how they sit, have greater chances to buy.

"We've talked to Ikea, and they have 3D images of their furniture line. You're talking about changing the whole experience of how you shop for, in this case, furniture and other objects that you can place around the home. This will be the first augmented reality app that allows you to make reliable buying decision […] When we launch new products, they will come first in the AR app.”
