Microsoft Surface - Products would have Low sales

Microsoft has big problems with the sale of products in the Surface category, production being slowed down at its partners' factories in Asia in recent months.

Microsoft Surface is a brand that the company Microsoft it is used to sell tablets and laptops, and according to some information that appeared today, the sales would not be that great. The information comes from Pegatron, a Chinese company specialized in manufacturing a variety of electronic products, including iPhone terminals, iPad tablets, or Microsoft products.

According to the representatives of this company, Microsoft would have placed much smaller orders for Surface products than expected just a few months ago. Those from Microsoft then announced the Surface Laptop for customers, but it seems that the interest in this type of product is much lower than the company expected, so the production orders are implicitly lower.

Those from Microsoft would have noticed that the interest vis-à-vis Surface Laptop, Surface Pro tablets, Surface Book, or Surface Studio is small, so they did not order products in large quantities. For this reason, Pegatron has much lower revenues than expected a few months ago, when Microsoft announced that it wanted to manufacture these products in much larger quantities.

Microsoft Surface - products would have low sales

Almost all the products in the Microsoft Surface series were designed to compete with something sold by Apple, but it seems that Microsoft is not very successful with them. Even the Surface Laptop, Microsoft's latest product, doesn't seem to attract people's attention, although it wants to be a cheaper competitor to the MacBook Air, with similar functionality and Windows 10 installed.

Why Microsoft is not successful with the Surface series products is hard to say, but probably the very high competition in the targeted market segments is the main problem. For every product in the Microsoft Surface category, there is at least one competitor that is cheaper, or that comes from a "cooler" company, the most eloquent example being Apple.

"Orders for Microsoft's Surface devices have been smaller than expected. Since demand for Microsoft's Surface products has been seriously undermined by other first-tier vendors' similar devices, the software giant has been conservative about placing its orders, which have been much lower than Pegatron's original expectations."

microsoft surface small sales

In recent years, Microsoft has rethought its strategy regarding the products launched in various market segments, and the Surface brand wanted to be a premium one. Unfortunately for those at Microsoft, the products don't seem to meet many of the consumer demands, so sales are seriously suffering, and Apple and Asian companies probably win the most.

Having said that, those from Microsoft will have a lot to recover in order to keep the Surface brand at the top, otherwise it risks having failures upon failures, as has happened with many products in recent years.
