YouTube – The Big Change for Videos

YouTube is preparing a major change for videos that changes the way previews are displayed for uploaded videos.

YouTube is currently testing a major change for the video clips displayed on its website, which was discovered by some users of the platform. In the animated image below you can see what it is about, YouTube testing new previews for video clips, these being displayed in the form of animated GIF images, instead of what was displayed until now.

YouTube has implemented this change for video clips that have a minimum duration of 30 seconds, a 3-second preview consisting of a GIF image being displayed. The new preview offered by the YouTube company for video clips uploaded by users briefly presents some of the important moments in the clips, but does not show as much useful information as in the past.

YouTube had a different method of showing video previews until now, but it probably chose this new method to reduce bandwidth consumption for users. Unfortunately, the change from YouTube could be done in another way that would bring even more utility, but I think that in the middle it is an attempt to force an increase in views for video clips.

YouTube – the big change for videos

YouTube will show short previews and without telling people in advance what they are going to see, and this will kind of force people to access the video clips. Whether they watch those videos on YouTube for a few seconds, or a few minutes, we are finally talking about an increase in the number of views that is drilled by the YouTube company through this change.

YouTube has not yet activated the change for all its users, so you may not see the new types of previews very soon, because the change is propagated globally. However, from the moment they become visible, there will be no way to change this feature of YouTube, so you better get used to it, because you will see it constantly.
