Facebook announced during this day the expansion of the availability of its sales platform in 17 European countries, practically offering an alternative to the well-known OLX.ro. Facebook initially launched its marketplace in the USA, Great Britain and several other important countries, but starting today the online sales store has been expanded to 17 European countries because there are many people willing to use it.
Facebook thought this online store to allow users to sell anything they want by publishing simple ads using their existing accounts in the social network. Practically, anyone who has a Facebook account can access the marketplace section of the network and place any kind of product sale announcements, along with dedicated photos and the price they want to receive.
Facebook practically offers a much simpler option than in the case of OLX, for example, to sell any products we want to get rid of, but for now the marketplace is not available in Romania. It was however launched today by Facebook in: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.
Facebook attacks OLX with its own sales platform
Unfortunately, Facebook doesn't have a rating system for sales made by various people, so you don't know if they are playing tricks or selling real products. However, they sell through their personal Facebook profile, so you can get a much clearer idea about those who make the sales, unlike OLX where you don't see information about the seller, separated by a simple phone number.
Facebook has already announced that over 18 million products are listed in all its marketplaces, so people are interested in selling various items through them. Until now, Facebook has had marketplaces available in countries, eBay has a very large market share in this segment, so in Europe it could be more successful, especially in countries like Romania, where eBay has not concentrated .
Facebook has not yet announced when it will launch this second-hand sales store in Romania, but probably not many months will pass, since it is offered in Hungary. Through this marketplace, Facebook is trying to steal the users of large platforms designed specifically for this purpose, such as OLX or eBay, and so far it seems that it has succeeded quite successfully in carrying out its plans.
Facebook will launch this marketplace in Romania, most likely, by the end of the year and I will let you know when it will.
