Apple Wants to Rent the Studios that Produced the Matrix

Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), has big plans to produce original films to distribute through Apple Music, and these are revealed today thanks to new information from the US. More specifically, Apple wants to rent the studios where many famous films were produced, including the Matrix series, but would be in intense negotiations to buy a TV series starring Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon.

We are talking about a drama that Apple wants to buy before Netflix, Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon being just two of the main characters of the series. With such leading actresses in a series under production, those from Apple intend to invest 1 billion dollars in the production of original content, most of it through this studio that they want to rent.

Apple rents the Matrix studios

Apple hired two former senior managers from Sony to lead the division that will create original content, they contributed to the production of extremely popular series, such as Breaking Bad or The Crown. Basically, Apple buys original productions and seems to have already found a place to produce its future creations with which it hopes to amaze the whole world and attract new subscribers to Apple Music.

Apple currently invests smaller amounts than HBO, Netflix, Amazon, or Hulu in creating original content, but they will increase as Apple Music becomes more popular. Apple wants to become a big producer of films and series, and so far it has launched a Planet of the Apps show, which was not very popular, but also the Carpool Karaoke series, about which we also know nothing in terms of popularity.

"Leasing at The Culver Studios would give Apple room to expand, as it hires top Hollywood talent, according to three people familiar with the discussions. The site has 13 soundstages up to 32,000 sq ft in size that can accommodate TV show shoots and full-length feature film work. But Apple is mainly looking for office space, albeit in an iconic location that signals their ambitions to become a big player in Hollywood."
