Orange Eliminates Free Roaming in the EU on Cards

Orange will eliminate free roaming in the EU on some prepaid cards that have certain active options, customers being obliged to modify their options.

Orange will eliminate free roaming in the EU, EEA, on the customers' cards under certain conditions that are specified below by the mobile operator itself. More precisely, those from Orange will deactivate the free roaming benefits for some of the prepaid card customers if they have an option with national benefits active at the same time, which is not happening now.

Orange is one of the operators that, from June 15, offers free benefits in roaming depending on the value of the subscriptions or prepaid card options. Now those from Orange will limit the access of some of the customers to these free benefits in roaming, they being obliged to activate an option with access to roaming in order to be able to use minutes, SMS and internet when they leave Romania.

Orange eliminates free roaming in the EU on cards

Orange follows a trend started by Digi Mobil and followed first by Vodafone, but unfortunately it seems that some customers are forced to make changes to the options used. Normally, Orange, and all the other operators, should have offered roaming benefits of SMS, minutes or internet based on a pre-set calculation by the EU, but it seems that prepaid card users are not very lucky.

Orange does nothing different from Vodafone here, both operators seeking to limit prepaid card users who use their benefits from the option and in roaming, under certain conditions. If you are one of those who use prepaid cards and travel outside Romania around October 23, make sure you follow what Orange says in the warning below.

"Religion October 23 2017 you no longer have access to the roaming service in the European Economic Area from the credit available in the account if you also have an option with national benefits active at the same time. Therefore, in order to have access to the service, we recommend that you activate an option with access to roaming. Alternatively, to have roaming access and use the credit available on the account when you are abroad, you can deactivate the option with active national benefits, but you will lose the benefits that have not been used up to the date of deactivation. Before leaving the country, check with *100#, the Roaming branch, if you have access to this service. Follow the instructions in effect on the current date to activate the service."
