Facebook Steals iPhone X's Major Function

Facebook steals the major function of the iPhone X that allows facial recognition of users, the social network is going to offer a special option with it.

Facebook steals the major function of iPhone X, the American company intending to offer customers the opportunity to use their face in new ways starting this year. More precisely, according to some information that appeared during the past few days, those from Facebook are testing a security system based on scanning the user's face, as it offers the iPhone X through the Face ID system that will be offered in November.

Facebook wants to offer facial recognition as a recovery system for accounts lost or stolen by hackers, Face ID from iPhone X being thought slightly differently. Facebook is currently testing the entire system and will offer it optionally for interested users to enjoy it, it will be offered in tandem with the 2-step authentication system using phone numbers and SMS, so different from what exists in the iPhone X.

Facebook will offer this additional measure to recover an account when we do not have access to the phone or email, scanning the face providing access to the account, just as the iPhone X provides access to data. Facebook claims that the face scan will be done during the process of recovering an account, and those who will be familiar with the scan made by the iPhone X will have an easier and more familiar job.

Facebook has announced since last year that it is developing functions based on facial recognition, probably knowing that the iPhone X is going to bring us a similar security system. Facebook has been doing facial recognition for photos for even longer, the company boasting an accuracy rate of 97%, perhaps even better than the one iPhone X will have after it is launched by Apple.

Facebook will still have a problem with tricking its security system based on facial recognition, in contrast to what Apple announced for the iPhone X. We already know that Android phones can have systems of this kind fooled with simple pictures, Samsung already going through problems of this kind, so Facebook will have to create a high-performance system to avoid these problems that will not exist for the iPhone X.

"We are testing a new feature for people who want to quickly and easily verify account ownership during the account recovery process. This optional feature is available only on devices you've already used to log in. It is another step, alongside two-factor authentication via SMS, that were taken to make sure account owners can confirm their identity. Facebook is currently testing this system with a view to launch, and after the appearance of the iPhone X, the group of users who could enjoy the function could be expanded. iPhone X will make facial recognition simpler and more familiar for many people, and Facebook intends to take advantage of this to significantly improve the security of its users' accounts around the world.
