Yahoo – ALL Mail Accounts Compromised

Yahoo has confirmed that all email accounts have been compromised by hackers, with 3 billion accounts being accessed by third parties.

Yahoo had all the mail accounts on the platform compromised by hackers in a hack carried out during 2013, 3 billion accounts being affected. Yahoo revealed only in 2016 that it had its servers compromised in 2013 by hackers, but it stated that only 1 billion accounts were compromised, but in reality it seems that all 3 billion accounts in the platform were affected.

Yahoo has confirmed that user account data has been accessed by hackers, and here we are talking about all 3 billion of the platform. According to those from Yahoo, the data accessed by the hackers includes users' phone numbers, dates of birth, encrypted passwords and information about security questions and the answers needed to answer them.

Yahoo informs its remaining 2 billion users about this hack and claims that the decrypted passwords were not disclosed to the hackers, nor were the customers' banking information. However, since the hackers have taken over the other data of Yahoo users, they will be able to use it to hack other accounts, and this is a very big problem for people, because accounts from other platforms could be attacked.

Yahoo – all email accounts have been compromised

Yahoo was sold to Verizon this year, so now it has to deal with the problem that the email platform went through 4 years ago. Yahoo was at that time the largest platform of its kind, so the problem itself is a colossal one because we are talking about a number of accounts that at that time represented half of the entire population of the planet.

Yahoo lied for 4 years about the real problem with the platform, but now it has said that it discovered everything with the help of an external team of investigators who analyzed the problem. Yahoo will never admit that it lied to users about the hack, but it had better help those who lost their accounts to recover them very quickly, otherwise even more people will leave their platform .

"Subsequent to Yahoo's acquisition by Verizon, and during integration, the company recently obtained new intelligence and now believes, following an investigation with the assistance of outside forensic experts, that all Yahoo user accounts were affected by the August 2013 theft. While this is not a new security issue, Yahoo is sending email notifications to the additional affected user accounts.”

Yahoo still remains one of the biggest email platforms on the planet, with more than 3 billion users who still don't know how secure the platform is. Unfortunately, Yahoo turned from a perfect platform for messaging and email into a platform that many people recommend us to avoid, but that's what happens when such a large company doesn't take care of user data security.
