Phones GSM Signal Indicator May Disappear

Mobile phones could be left without the indicator that displays the strength of the GSM signal, a first step towards modification having already been discovered in testing.

The days of checking the GSM signal strength of a mobile phone could be counted, as a radical change is in the works for what some are constantly checking when using their mobile phones. A change discovered in Android P recently suggests that mobile phones will no longer display information on GSM signal strength for users, the indicator will disappear completely.

Whether the phone has one signal bar, or several, based on the change discovered, it seems that the indicator will be completely removed from Android mobile phones, probably in a few years. No one knows yet why manufacturers would want to remove this precious indicator from the operating system of a mobile phone, but it is easy to understand why mobile operators would want to hide it in the future.

The GSM signal indicator of the phones may disappear

The change regarding the indicator that shows the strength of the GSM signal of a mobile phone has been discovered for now only in Android P, but this does not mean that it will not reach the iPhone in the future, for example. Apple reduced the performance of the iPhone without telling anyone and is preparing to implement lower quality modems in the phones, so hiding the signal strength is not something hard to imagine.

"Carriers play a large part in determining how fast software updates can roll out, and they can also sometimes determine what features we have access to. According to few commits, it appears that some carriers are pushing for the ability to hide the signal strength in settings, starting in Android P."

If such a change will be made for the iPhone, or any other mobile phones, I don't think it will come too soon, especially since now customers would attack the manufacturers from all "corners". I think that in the future it is expected that such a change will be implemented, but only if the mobile phone networks will have good coverage and I think it will have an option to display details when the signal is extremely bad.

What do you think about the implementation of such a change for mobile phones?
