2018 will be the year of smart speakers, almost all analysts are firmly convinced that this will be the "gadget of the year", and now we see some interesting studies on the use of this type of devices. More precisely, a recent study tried to find out what kind of electronic products are replaced by smart speakers in daily use, and the answers are more than interesting.
39% of the participants in the study said that a smart speaker replaces their classic radio, something very easy to guess from the start, but 34% say that they have given up their smartphone in favor of the smart speaker. This percentage is very important, because it shows that smart speakers can replace many functions of smartphones, and here we are talking about listening to music, performing web searches, controlling smart homes, etc.
30% of the participants in the study stated that the smart speakers replaced their televisions, and this category would include those who used their televisions only to listen to music or to find out important news. 27% of those who own smart speakers have given up the tablets they use daily, while 26% no longer use a computer as often after buying a smart speaker.
23% no longer read newspapers and magazines, and 17% gave up on home audio systems after buying a smart speaker, of course if they could not make the interconnection between the two types of devices. Practically, smart speakers can replace many functions of a variety of electronic devices in our homes, but nevertheless, they are just at the beginning in terms of the degree of adoption.
