Samsung: Galaxy S9 did NOT Copy iPhone X

The Samsung Galaxy S9 did not copy the iPhone X, according to the president of the mobile division of the Samsung company, DJ Koh, speaking in an interview with the American press about the accusations made against the new smartphone.

Samsung Galaxy S9 Copy iPhone X

Samsung Galaxy S9 is criticized by some of those who tested it as having copied from iPhone X the new Animoji function, in the smartphone of Koreans it is integrated in the form of a named application AR Emoji. The Samsung Galaxy S9 has, through the AR Emoji application, a similar functionality, but with some improvements implemented by the Koreans to try to offer something new so that people do not immediately think that it is an Animoji clone.

Samsung Galaxy S9 offers, just like Animoji, the possibility to control with facial expressions and head movements, a virtual character, the difference being that here it is created based on our face, it is not predefined, as with iPhone X. The president of the mobile division of Samsung still claims that the function in the Samsung Galaxy S9 is "new" and that it has been thinking of implementing it in smartphones since 2001, but only in 2017, after the launch of the iPhone X, is it offered.

Samsung claims that the Galaxy S9 did not copy the iPhone X

The Samsung Galaxy S9 would have an AR Emoji function completely different from the Animoji in the iPhone X, according to Samsung's president, but what else could he say after years and years of Samsung copying the iPhone. No matter how much the president of Samsung tries to make it clear that an Animoji clone was not implemented in the Samsung Galaxy S9, the world knows what Apple launched last year and what the Koreans did, even if we are not talking about a 1:1 copy between functions.

"He bristled at any notion Samsung was playing catch-up with Apple, as the human emojis took years of development, he added. "Their approach and my approach is totally different," said Mr. Koh, cautious not to mention Apple, a rival and components customer, by name. "I do work seriously based off my own roadmap."

The Samsung Galaxy S9 comes with some innovations compared to the iPhone X and this should not be overlooked, but the fact that the AR Emoji feature was inspired by Animoji should not be overlooked either. Samsung doesn't seem capable of offering popular features for its own smartphones, so in order for the Samsung Galaxy S9 to succeed, the Korean company decided to implement something that proved to be popular in the iPhone X.

  1. It's as if Apple was saying that it takes years to implement a feature, so copying from the competition is out of the question.
I remember you all agreed with that explanation. Now when it comes to Samsung, you agree that the explanation no longer holds.
How is it in the end?

  2. well, the apple function... it was rumored for over 1 year before its appearance, so stay calm because if we knew 1 year before, surely samsung knew it too

  3. this is serious.. I have the impression that he is a child sometimes... if WE hear rumors from credible sources almost 1 year before what Apple is doing... how the hell doesn't Samsung find out too?!

  4. Huawei copies everything Apple does, but don't pretend you didn't understand what Viorel said the first time
What is the S5's fingerprint sensor doing here? Did Samsung say it put years of work into it?
Should you have seen VR glasses at the S9 launch? Animated emojis are not based on VR but on AR...by the way, you can try the independent Odiseey Samsung VR headset
Do you think that if Samsung made some AR Emoji both it and the others will go crazy? I don't know if you've seen that in the last quite long period no one bothers with Apple's trivial things... instead, Apple copies with the cart from others no matter what, because they don't develop anything

  5. That user clearly said "They saw that Apple is going with AR and not with VR, it means that this is the direction to follow."
And as you said, the s9 emoji are based on AR. It's just that apple comes from the first with ar and emoji and samsung has ar on android since I don't know when but it didn't do anything until apple set the tone

  6. You didn't understand or pretend you don't understand what I wanted to emphasize, in this case the fact that you don't need a period of years to copy something (P20 design, S5 imprint). I know that Eniko animated is based on AR and not on VR, until now Samsung was focusing on VR, now seeing that Apple follows the path of AR and not VR as Samsung did until the iPhone X, they left it softer (or they even abandoned) the VR. Do you really think you'd see animoji on the S9 if Apple didn't put in the X? By the way, this animoji is extremely stupid, in 5 minutes of playing with it you get over it and it is not worth taking up such a large part of the presentation both at Apple and at Samsung, a kind of live photos. Both copy from each other, that's clear.

  7. I also think animated Emoji is silly, but the fact that they use AR in no way follows Apple's path, they just needed it for this
Samsung didn't abandon VR, they just followed ex HTC and launched devices independent of anything else (mobile phones, PC...eg Samsung Odiseey (Microsoft))
I know you don't need a long period of time to copy something, but you also don't need a long period of time to develop and implement trivial things, as Apple lies
