Orange INCREASES ALL Customers' 4G Internet Speeds

Orange announces the increase of 4G and 4G+ mobile internet speeds for customers in Romania, the operator offering the benefits for free and demonstrating the 5G network again.

Orange INCREASES 4G Internet Speeds

Orange announced during this day the increase of 4G+ speeds for customers in Romania to the value of 500 Mbps, 95 cities in the country being chosen by the operator for this network improvement. We are talking about an increase from 375 Mbps to 500 Mbps in the 95 localities in the country, a substantial difference that will result in a better internet browsing experience, but only if you have a phone capable of rendering similar speeds.

Orange does not say the 95 localities where customers who have 4G+ speeds will now benefit from speeds of up to 500 Mbps, but even if there is an additional fee, but most likely there won't be. Practically, all those who live in the 4G+ coverage areas of the 95 localities chosen by Orange, which probably represent the entire 4G+ coverage area, will from now on enjoy internet browsing speeds of up to 500 Mbps.

Orange increases the 4G internet speeds of all customers

Orange has prepared surprises not only for customers of 4G+ services, but also for those of 4G services, because areas with 4g coverage of up to 150 Mbps, i.e. the rest of Romania, will now have speeds of up to 200 Mbps. The increase of 50 Mbps seems small, but we are talking about a higher speed with which any kind of video clips, photos, etc. will be uploaded to your phones using the 4G internet of Orange Romania.

Orange also demonstrated today a new technology that brings speeds of up to 4 Mbps to the 900G+ network for compatible phones, as well as a new demonstration of the speeds obtained through the future 5G network. Orange is seriously investing now to improve its 4G and 4G+ networks, and this while developing 5G network of the next generation, the mobile phone operator going to offer much better quality services for us.

"Orange announces 4G+ speeds of up to 500Mbps in 95 cities in Romania

  • Mobile speeds of up to 500Mbps for Orange subscribers in 95 cities
  • Mobile speeds of up to 900Mbps available for tests in 3 Orange shops and Impact Hub Bucharest
  • Demonstration on 5G test license made together with Nokia

Bucharest, March 7, 2018. Starting today, Orange customers have the opportunity to experience the performance of the 4G+ network at speeds of up to 500Mbps in 95 cities in Romania. Higher speeds of up to 900Mbps can be tested in the commercial network in Orange smart shops in Bucharest (Europe House), Iasi and Cluj-Napoca, as well as in Impact Hub Bucharest through compatible terminals1. Also, Orange, together with Nokia, demonstrated the benefits of 5G technology, on the 5G spectrum (3.7 GHz) in the radio network.

The new performances are the result of a development process of Orange's 4G+ network, but also of constant investments in the most extensive 4G network in Romania. Following this development, all Orange customers will enjoy significant speed increases. Thus, in areas with 4G coverage where the maximum speed was up to 150Mbps, it increases up to 200Mbps. Areas with 4G+ coverage, with speeds of up to 375 Mbps, will now benefit from download speeds of up to 500 Mbps.

Also, during a press event, Orange demonstrated the potential of the 4G+ network, reaching commercial speeds of up to 900Mbps, using Samsung Galaxy S9 terminals and the existing radio network technology provided by Huawei.

Together with Orange, Nokia made a demonstration of the capabilities of 5G technology, presenting two of the most interesting functionalities. The extremely low latency, which allows applications of the industry 4.0 type, which will bring improvements in the area of industrial automation, as well as the large volume of information and connections that the future network will be able to manage, were highlighted.

"The communication needs of our customers evolve rapidly. As well as the Orange network, which keeps up with these changes. The number of 4G users and the volume of traffic are growing spectacularly from year to year, so the development of the 4G/4G+ network is a natural step to meet the needs of our customers. The 4G+ network brings a significant performance improvement, which for customers means speed increases in the use of mobile data, but also an improved network experience. This is a first step towards the network of the future - 5G", he declared Stefan Slavnicu, Chief Technology Officer in Orange Romania.

Also, Marc La Fay, Head of Orange Europe Customer Team at Nokia, said: “We are proud to partner with Orange for these 5G trials. In today's demos we use the complete 5G Nokia system consisting of the Airscale base station which includes Massive MIMO antennas and the Nokia Airframe used for Cloud RAN, vEPC virtual network and MEC mobile Edge Computing to run several demo applications.''
