Apple implements in iOS 11.3 new functions to protect the privacy of users, announcing the possibility to download the data associated with an Apple ID.

iOS 11.3 comes with a new function for users, more precisely one that will allow you to view a special icon when an application wants to access data stored in phones and tablets. Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), claims that iOS 11.3 will display a warning only when applications want to access certain data, and not always when they do so, because giving consent once will be valid in the future.

Apart from that, the Apple company will also implement a new section in the website that allows the management of Apple IDs by its customers. Using this new section, Apple customers will be able to download a copy of the data that Apple has collected over time about them, something similar to what Facebook offers.

Apple offers this new functionality to comply with the European legislation for the protection of user privacy, so the new section will be available until May, when the European legislation comes into force. Apple claims that we will be able to download data such as counts, photos, music preferences, calendar information and many other data stored in Apple's servers.

"The site will also let customers correct personal information, temporarily deactivate their account, and completely delete it. The new privacy controls are designed to comply with the European Union's General Data Protection Regulation, which kicks in May 25."

Apple will also allow the correction of personal information about us, but also the deactivation or deletion of an Apple ID, if we no longer need it, or it has been compromised. Apple is going to offer all these functions until May 25, when the new European legislation comes into force, so when it is available, I will come back with additional details.
