Bucharest, April 26, 2018. Orange Group announces today its financial results for the first quarter of 2018, available on March 31.

In the January-March period, Orange Romania achieved a turnover of 270 million euros, an increase of 11.1% compared to the same period last year. The increase was mainly supported by the positive evolution of mobile data usage, mobile device sales and converged services. On March 31, 2018, Orange Romania offered mobile, landline and TV services to 10.449.000 customers.

Uninterrupted mobility and connectivity

At the end of March, over 3,3 million Orange customers were using Orange 4G services, almost 40% more compared to the first quarter of 2017, with the 4G network covering 93,4% of the country's population. The same upward trend is evident in mobile data traffic, which increased by 85% compared to Q1 2017, and in 4G, which increased 3 times. This evolution is supported by smartphone sales and continuous investments in 4G and 4G+ networks, which ensure superior quality of internet service and calls. For example, starting in March, Orange customers have access to the performance of the 4G+ network, with speeds of up to 500Mbps, in 95 cities in Romania.

High-performance smartphones and connected devices remain at the top of customer preferences. For example, sales generated by the connected devices category saw a 70% increase in the first quarter of this year compared to the first quarter of 2017. Increased interest is also seen in connected home items, where sales increased 5 times compared to the 1st quarter of the previous year.

Complete connectivity experience

At the end of March, the cable and satellite TV service Orange Home TV had 418.000 customers, up 22% compared to Q1 2017, and fixed broadband services had more than 210.000 subscribers, up 65%. In the first quarter of 2018, 95.000 customers chose fixed-mobile services from Orange, almost 6 times more compared to the previous year. Also, the interest of users to access video content from any device is reflected in the average monthly number of active users of the Orange TV Go service, which increased by 27% in Q1 2018 compared to the same period in 2017. The increase was registered as a result of enriching and diversifying the content and adapting the application based on customer feedback.

Increased appetite for the digital environment

The first three months of the year also brought an increase in the segment of financial services through the mobile phone, due to the accessibility and speed of transactions. Thus, the number of customers who chose the Orange Money service until March 31, 2018 to pay bills and perform PrePay top-ups reached 94.000, an increase of 130% compared to the same period last year.

"We continue in the first quarter of 2018 the accelerated digitization process, supported by the increase in the consumption of mobile data and connected products, both for the residential and for the business environment. Connectivity and mobility remain key elements in the choices of our customers, and their increasing appetite for our fixed-mobile services and digital solutions, which offer simplicity and efficiency, is supported by investments in new services and network performance. We want to bring the benefits of our network closer to as many people as possible, that's why the quality of the network and products tailored to their needs remains our priority", he said Liudmila Climoc, Chief Executive Officer in the Orange Romania.
