In the case of Apple, smartphone sales amounted to 52.2 million units in Q1 2018, up 2.8% compared to the same period last year. In the case of Samsung, smartphone sales decreased by 2.4% in Q1 2018 compared to Q1 2017, so for Americans this fiscal quarter was much better than for Korean competitors.
Apple and Samsung DOMINATED Smartphone Sales in Q1 2018
Although Apple and Samsung remained at the top of smartphone sales, Huawei and Xiaomi also had a very good fiscal quarter at the beginning of 2018. Huawei's sales increased by 13.8% in Q1 2018 compared to Q1 2017, while in the case of Xiaomi, they increased by 87.8%, the most among all smartphone manufacturers.
Apart from these four manufacturers, OPPO recorded a 7.5% decrease in sales, and the rest of the manufacturers recorded, in total, an 18.5% decrease in sales. The entire smartphone market decreased by 2.9% in sales in Q1 2018 compared to Q1 2017, so the only winners of the beginning of the year were Apple, Huawei and Xiaomi, the last with the best results.
