Apple Watch is one of the most successful Apple products at the moment, and the American company is trying to introduce a change designed to make the world even more interested in it. According to a new patent registered to the Apple company, those from Cupertino are working on the development of a new model that has a circular screen, not square like the current versions.

Apple describes in its patent how it managed to overcome the problems that normally occur when producing a watch with a circular screen. The screens present the biggest impediments in the development of this kind of products, and this is because of the way in which the pixels are placed in this kind of components, but those from Cupertino have a solution for almost any kind of problem.

Although many thought that the launch of an Apple Watch with a circular screen is impossible, those from Apple seem to have a completely different opinion and are convinced that they can bring such a model to the market. Of course, this would also require a complete rethinking of watchOS for smartwatches, so if such a change will be made, it will not come too soon.

"Pixel arrays often have rectangular shapes. However, rectangular pixel arrays will not fit efficiently within a device having a circular shape. Circular displays can have bottleneck regions in which signal lines become crowded, leading to inefficient use of display area. It would therefore be desirable to be able to provide improved displays such as circular displays or other displays with curved edges."

Apple develops a lot of new technologies before deciding whether they can be introduced into a commercial product or not, so it is not certain that a circular Apple Watch will ever be released. However, the interest of those from Apple in patenting an Apple Watch with a circular screen suggests that the possible launch of such a product is not excluded by those from Cupertino.
