Last night YouTube launched a new function for users all over the world, it is available right now and you can try it.

YouTube launched yesterday a new function for users from all over the world, the American company wanting to involve the method by which those who use its platform communicate with each other in their everyday life. More precisely, YouTube allows those who use the desktop version of its website to also use the direct messaging function, which until now was only available for the iPhone and Android applications, quite strangely.

In August, YouTube launched the messaging system for iPhone and Android applications, allowing users to have conversations on the platform, just like in any other messaging application. The introduction of such functionality for YouTube came as a surprise to many, but it seems that the function was so used and appreciated, that those from YouTube decided to implement it for the desktop version of its platform.

YouTube now has a new button on the top right of the website that allows any user to access the messaging system, everything being thought as familiar as in Facebook Messenger or WhatsApp. Of course, in order to send messages to a certain person, you must first add them as a friend in the YouTube platform and wait for this request to be accepted, but then you will be able to send messages to anyone at will.

YouTube knows that people like to discuss the videos that exist on the platform, so offering a functionality of this kind is perfectly normal, bringing users more reasons to stay on the platform. Before concluding, I remind you again that YouTube will replace the chronological display of news from users' feeds with an algorithmic one, so get ready for a new way of seeing clips on the website and applications.
