Apple has hired a number of former Intel engineers to develop a project that many of its fans have been waiting for some time.

Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), has recently convinced a number of company employees Intel to join him to develop future interesting products for customers, working in a secret laboratory in Washington. More than 20 people are part of the team of former Intel engineers, who have a variety of new functions within the company.

Apple has been in the middle of rumors for some time that indicate that it intends to launch a Mac in which it wants to use ARM processors instead of Intel ones. The change is a huge one, because Apple will give up the products of a traditional partner to use its own processors, as it happens with iDevices.

Apple is very serious about its initiative to completely abandon Intel for the processors that support the functionality of Macs, but it will not do it right away. It is very possible that Apple will initially launch a few models of Macs that have ARM processors to see how much interest there is for them, and then completely abandon the ones from Intel

"Apple has a secret in Washington County. The Silicon Valley company has hired close to two-dozen people in a hardware engineering lab there, raiding Intel and other Oregon tech employers for a variety of roles, according to job postings, social media profiles and an individual familiar with Apple's recruiting efforts. LinkedIn profiles indicate Apple has been hiring for its Washington County site since November and that a number of its new employees previously held senior research or engineering roles at Intel."

Apple used its own processors for its Macs in the past, but in the end it returned to Intel, and history could repeat itself, but not now, but in a few years. When Apple will launch its first Mac equipped with an ARM processor instead of Intel's, it is not yet known, but the company's plans are advanced at the moment.
