iOS 12: First Impressions and first Disappointment

iOS 12 was released in beta version last night by the Apple company, and in this article I will talk about the first impressions and why I think it is a disappointment.

iOS 12 Impressions Disappointment

iOS 12 it was released last night by the Apple company in beta version for application developers for the iOS platform, and of course I installed it to test the news that Apple announced. When I first unlocked the iPhone X on iOS 12, I was a little stuck by the fact that there is absolutely nothing new that would give you the impression that you have installed a major update for the operating system, everything looks exactly the same as in iOS 11.

Starting to look for the changes that Apple has implemented in iOS 12, most of them seem to be functions that should have existed naturally in iOS, rather than innovations or substantial news. At the level of the iOS 12 interface, it will not surprise anyone, because nothing major changes, and from what Apple has announced new, few things will be really useful to me, and this is because, in reality, Apple has announced few really important news.

iOS 12: First Impressions and first Disappointment

Those who said that iOS 12 will be an update focused mainly on solving problems and improving performance, not on implementing useful functions, were right, and this is a big disappointment, at least for me. Yes, it is useful to see in detail what your battery consumes and how much time you spend in the applications, but the interest in them disappears, and the functions for limiting access to the applications are useful if you have children, otherwise, it is just an extra useless menu.

On the performance side, I can't say that iOS 12 "set me back", yes it seems slightly faster than iOS 11, but that's probably because the duration of some animations was reduced, not for other reasons, and the differences seem to me be minimal. Unfortunately, this year Apple chose to leave us without major news in iOS 12, it chose to focus on solving problems, and it will regret it, because they will exist, and their existence will be amplified precisely because of the decision now.
