WhatsApp launched a new function for iPhone and Android the other day, users from all over the world will experience it in the application, but only if they are part of conversation groups on the platform. According to those from WhatsApp, group administrators will have the possibility to activate a setting that allows only them to send messages in the conversation groups, something that would make the transmission of information much easier, and would prevent the spread of fake news, theoretically.
WhatsApp touted the new feature as very useful for those who monitor group chats for public institutions, media trusts, non-governmental organizations, and many, many others. The problem is that Telegram has had this functionality for a very long time, and WhatsApp copied it without saying that it was inspired by the competing platform, but those from Facebook copied so much from Snapchat, that it was expected that they would not say nothing

WhatsApp copied from Telegram more than necessary, because in the last year the platform has turned into a paradise for those who distribute false information, which has extremely serious consequences. In India, several people were killed in the last month after rumors about child kidnappers or organ thieves were distributed through WhatsApp, and people licked strangers in the street, all because of rumors distributed through the platform.
"Today, we're launching a new group setting where only admins are able to send messages to a group. One way people use groups is to receive important announcements and information, including parents and teachers at schools, community centers, and non-profit organizations. We've introduced this new setting so admins can have better tools for these use cases."
WhatsApp activated this new option for users around the world starting Friday, but its global distribution could take a few more days, due to the way the American platform is designed. In this idea, if you don't have it visible within the WhatsApp application, then you will have to wait until it is available for use without problems, so you have to be patient and you will be able to use it.
