Google Maps had announced at the beginning of this month that it is going to go through a massive update of the maps that are available for Romania, Street View cars returning in our country since a few weeks ago. During the summer, the Street View cars will roam Romania to record images that will be offered in Google Maps, and among them you will also find an important natural reserve, the Danube Delta.

Google Maps is going to record images from the Danube Delta for the first time for users who use Street View, and anyone on the planet will be able to see the beauties that await them in a reservation that is also part of the UNESCO heritage. Google Maps will have images from certain areas of the Danube Delta, but for now it is not known which route the cars will travel on, but there will probably be updates for this in the near future.

Google Maps has this project developed in Romania in partnership with WWF, World Wide Fund for Nature, and below you have an extract from a press release that the organization sent in connection with this very important project. We are talking about a very high importance given to Romania thanks to this initiative in which the Google company is involved, and this will make the Danube Delta easier to discover through Google Maps, which will also attract new visitors.

"We live in a world of technology, a world of connections and hashtags, but at the same time, when it comes to the environment, it's hard to understand why nature matters to us every day. The Danube Delta is a biodiversity hotspot, a complicated term at first glance, but familiar when analyzed more closely. Born from the phrase "biological diversity", the term refers to the variety of life on Earth, in all its forms and with all its interactions. Genetic variety, countless species, communities, ecosystems - like the Danube Delta - where life interferes with the physical environment. These numerous interactions have made the Earth conducive to human life. Everything we see around us, from forests, deltas, rivers, all the ecosystems that provide us with resources for our livelihood, all of these are, in fact, biodiversity. The fact that we have breathable air and drinking water, food and recreation spaces is due to biodiversity."

Google Maps is going to have the images recorded by the Street View cars during the summer both through the Danube Delta and through the rest of the country, but they are going to be processed and only available in the fall. This means that only then anyone will be able to see the Danube Delta through Google Maps, if the rest of the higher quality images will not be enough, but the novelty is that larger regions will be able to be seen, including the quality of the roads.
