PREMIERA Mobile Telephony Market Romania 350267

A very interesting premiere was recorded on the mobile telephony market in Romania, a long time before the predictions of some, and in the conditions in which we live in a country where people want to pay less for telecom services. More precisely, according to those from Orange, for the first time on the Romanian market, the number of active subscriptions exceeded the number of active prepaid cards, the difference between them being only one percent, for now.

The figures are valid for the evolution of the mobile phone market in Romania in 2017, with the number of active subscriptions reaching 51%, while the number of prepaid cards fell to 49%, according to an Orange report. To be completely honest, this announcement is surprising, especially since for some time the offers available for prepaid cards are much better than those available for subscriptions, but the Romanians' preferences change according to their needs.

PREMIERE on the Mobile Telephony Market in Romania

In 2017, the mobile telephony market in Romania generated revenues of 2.5 billion euros for telecom operators in the country, 200 million euros more than in 2016. The difference is due to the growing increase in the use of mobile internet, but and the growing sales of subsidized phones, and the operators generated more from mobile services than from fixed ones, the total receipts from the telecom market being 3.8 billion euros in 2017.

"For the first time, the total market share of subscription contracts was 51%, surpassing the segment of prepaid cards for the first time. The revenues recorded by telecommunications companies in Romania from the sale of telephone, internet and television services in 2017 approached 3,8 billion euros."

Romania remains one of the most attractive telecom markets in Europe, one with the best mobile and fixed internet services, but also one with the lowest prices for the services that customers benefit from. Out of the 3.8 billion euros generated on the telecom market in Romania, Orange, Vodafone and Telekom generated approximately 3 billion dollars of the entire amount, while Digi Mobil and the rest of the smaller ones shared the rest of the amount, and that much.
