WhatsApp has a new, very important function for iPhone and Android, the American company implementing it secretly, but here is what it helps you with.

WhatsApp released a new feature last night that it tested very little before offering it publicly for users around the world, and we talked about it just last week, when it was discovered. The WhatsApp company launched this new feature only on phones Android who use the application in beta version at the moment, here being easier to implement than in the case of iPhone phones, but of course it will also reach the iOS platform of those from Cupertino.

WhatsApp has integrated into the Android application a new function that aims to protect users from malicious websites, by preloading the pages shared through the platform to see if they may contain viruses or not. You can see in the image below how the new function integrated into WhatsApp by the American company in its application looks like, an alert message telling us if a certain website is suspicious, or has never been marked in this way.

WhatsApp implemented the function only to tell us if a website is suspicious, and could harm us, but if we do not see any alert for a certain website, this does not mean that it is 100% safe. WhatsApp has not integrated the function with a prior check of all websites on the Internet, and it should not be seen as a safe method of knowing whether any kind of website is safe to access, or should be avoided by users.

WhatsApp checks website links locally, directly in the application, so there is a database in every phone that contains the suspicious websites discovered by the American company so far. The function launched by WhatsApp is a very good one, it will certainly help a lot of people to avoid suspicious websites, but for now it is not known when it will be publicly launched for all users of the application.
