Huawei had an extremely good fiscal quarter in China, but those from Vivo achieved the highest growth rate, of approximately 30%, while Xiaomi recorded a decrease in sales in Q2 2018. The entire smartphone market- devices recorded an 8% decrease in sales in Q2 2018, while the category of "other" manufacturers recorded a 51% decrease in sales, so Huawei was far, far ahead of the competition on the Chinese market.

"Huawei (including Honor) grew its market share to a record 27%, the biggest share for any smartphone vendor in China since Q2 2011. Huawei Honor sub-brand accounted for 55% of its shipments in Q2 2018. Huawei self-branded smartphones accounted for 45% of total sell-in to China, with about half of those being Nova models.”

Huawei remains one of the largest smartphone manufacturers on the planet thanks to the very good evolution in China, but although Samsung had long had problems there, now even those from Apple are "lost" among the rest of the manufacturers. The majority of smartphones sold by Huawei (55%) are those from the Honor brand, i.e. the cheap models, while half of the remaining 45% was represented by the Nova models, also low and mid-end.
