Huawei P20 PRO is today at the center of a new scandal, after Huawei phones were banned by a famous benchmarking application, and this in a completely surprising way. The past days Huawei has admitted that it cheats in performance tests, saying that other Chinese manufacturers do the same thing, so why wouldn't they, but lying to customers is not right, so the Huawei P20 PRO was banned by the creators of 3DMark.
The Huawei P20 PRO was banned together with the Huawei Nova 3 and Honor Play from doing tests to verify the performance of the video cards because the differences between the real and false performances are very large. You can see in the image below how big the difference is between the results obtained by the Huawei P20 PRO, Huawei Nova 3 and Honor Play in the public version of the 3DMark application and a private version, where the artificial increase in performance is not triggered.

Huawei P20 PRO contains a special software integrated by the company Huawei to artificially increase the working frequencies for the processor and the video card, all with the idea of offering very high performances. The problem is that the Huawei P20 PRO does not offer these performances in normal phone use, because they would overheat and freeze, so 3DMark decided to block the phones from the application until they no longer cheat.
"Here's what Huawei had to say about it: In normal benchmarking scenarios, once Huawei's software recognizes a benchmarking application, it intelligently adapts to "Performance Mode" and delivers optimum performance. Huawei is planning to provide users with access to "Performance Mode" so they can use the maximum power of their device when they need to."
Huawei P20 PRO enjoyed extremely good sales, together with the entire series of which it is a part, but unfortunately everything is based on a lie, at least when it comes to the performance of the phone. The Huawei P20 PRO would also cheat in the tests done using the Geekbench application, not only in the 3DMark application, and since Huawei has admitted that its phones cheat in the performance tests, the action of those from 3DMark is normal.
