iOS 12.1 was released in beta version by the Apple company for iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch, the new version of the operating system for iDevices being offered even a few days after iOS 12 was officially released. iOS 12.1 has no listed officially important changes by the Apple company, but a very interesting function was discovered by the developers who had the opportunity to analyze the operating system of those from Apple.

iOS 12.1 has implemented a new function for recording photos, which allows adjusting the bokeh effect for portrait photos in real time, so before actually taking the photo. Apple launched for iPhone XS/Max si iPhone XR a function that allows adjusting the bokeh effect of Portrait photos after they have been recorded, but iOS 12.1 brings the option even while taking the respective photos with the phones.

iOS 12.1 should have this feature enabled for beta phones, with the option available for the Camera app and users who take photos using the Portrait feature on iPhone XS/Max and iPhone XR. Those from Apple promised that this function will be offered to iDevice users through a future iOS update, and apparently, iOS 12.1 is the version that will bring it, but exclusively in new phone models.

"As Apple told us in the conversation, this kind of depth control will be possible in the future directly when you take photos. An upcoming iOS update brings the slider directly to the camera app, so you can directly adjust depth of field when shooting portraits. Which iOS update this will happen with and when it will appear has not been communicated. Apple just said that the iOS 12.x update will be released later this year.”

iOS 12.1 will not bring this functionality to the old models of phones available from Apple, most likely not even for the iPhone X, and here Apple will explain everything by the lack of processing power. This feature has existed for several years for Android phones, mainly Samsung's, and now iOS 12.1 will bring it including for the new Apple iPhone models, so we can only wait for it to be offered.
