Tesla would be interested in entering the Romanian market, but also on other markets in Eastern Europe, the American company looking to expand its business in the area, but also to create its networks for charging electric cars. As part of this expansion initiative, those from Tesla met in the US with ambassadors from various countries in the region, including George Maior, the Romanian ambassador to the US, and there they would have discussed possible plans to enter the Romanian market .

Tesla sells its cars in certain European countries at the moment, but there we are talking about support provided by local authorities to create networks of stations for charging electric cars, something that does not really exist in Romania. George Maior would have presented the Tesla people with the measures taken by Romania to support the purchase of electric vehicles by granting vouchers that reduce to a certain extent the prices of this type of vehicle.

Tesla received an invitation from George Maior to send a team to Romania to document and see what opportunities exist for entering the market, either with the sale of cars or with the creation of a network of charging stations. Tesla has expensive cars, with the exception of the Model 3, which has a much more affordable price than the S or X models, but in a country like Romania the company will not open a representative office too soon, although it can certify partners to sell its cars .

Tesla may have enough customers for the Model 3 in Romania, but only in the cities where there are actually charging stations for these cars, and in the rest of the country those customers will not be able to drive the cars. Tesla was very successful in the USA, where the special infrastructure for electric cars was created, because it has someone to buy them, but in a country like Romania it is unlikely that a company of this kind will be successful too soon.
