Processor, RAM and Storage
MacBook Air 2018 comes with new 8th generation Intel processors, Apple also allows the use of up to 16 GB of RAM memory at 2133 MHz.
SSDs with up to 1.5 TB of storage space can be used for all of this, they perform real-time encryption for the data stored by users.
Apple also implemented a new T2 chip in the MacBook Air 2018, securing the boot process and making it the most secure of all existing laptops.
Moreover, the new T2 chip in MacBook Air 2018 also secures fingerprints scanned by Touch ID, Hey Siri is also offered thanks to it, together with Apple Pay.
Finally, this T2 chip controls the controller for the storage medium, the image processor, and the audio controller in the MacBook Air 2018.
Design, Autonomy and keyboard
MacBook Air 2018 has integrated a new keyboard, of the 3rd generation, which uses a new "butterfly" mechanism, which is 4 times more stable, and the Force Touch system with Trackpad is 20% larger than in previous models.
MacBook Air 2018 also has stereo speakers that are 25% louder than in previous models, with 2 times more bass being offered as well.
MacBook Air 2018 also has 3 Thunderbolt ports, along with VGA, DisplayPort, HDMI, USB-C and a charging port.
MacBook Air 2018 emits up to 17% less "noise" when working, having a thickness of only 15.6mm, very small for such a laptop.
The autonomy of the MacBook Air 2018 is presented by Apple as being 13 hours for playing movies through iTunes, and this although its dimensions are 17% smaller and the weight is only 1.24 KG.
Price and Release
The basic version of MacBook Air 2018 has a 5 GHz Intel I1.6 processor, a 128 GB SSD, and 8 GB of RAM memory, Apple selling it at the price of 1200 dollars, without VAT in the USA, so about 1400 euro in Europe.
The new MacBook Air 2018 models can be pre-ordered starting today, but will be released on November 7.
