At the end of the year, the Samsung company decided to release its new version of the operating system for the Samsung GALAXY S9 and S9 Plus, but together with that it also revealed the release dates for various other models. Although that list suggests that the Samsung GALAXY NOTE 8 will have Android 9 available only in March 2019, well, this date has been advanced by the Koreans to February.

The same list still shows that the Samsung GALAXY S9 and S9 Plus will receive an update only this month, together with the Samsung GALAXY NOTE 9, but it is quite clear that things have been seriously advanced. Considering that Android 9 has already been released for these models, this month the update will reach the Note 9 as well, and in February the Samsung GALAXY NOTE 8 will have the update available for installation.

Although it is not clear why Samsung decided to advance the launch for the Samsung GALAXY Note 8 series phones, it is most likely that everything has to do with the fact that beta testing for the Note 9 is going so well. If users testing the beta version of Android 9 for the Note 9 haven't reported that many problems, then it's very possible that Samsung thinks that the version for the Note 8 would be good enough to be offered publicly.

Since the Samsung GALAXY NOTE 8 would have this update available earlier than many people hope, then it is also very possible that the Samsung GALAXY S8 or S8 Plus will have the update in February instead of March. Of course, we won't know this for sure until at least a new beta version is released for Android 9 by Samsung, or after the release of a new public version of the operating system.
