RCS & RDS. PRICE INCREASE to Support Investments

RCS & RDS. The telecom operator announced yesterday price increases for telephone, internet and television services offered in Romania, and today came an explanation for the surprise with which the year 2019 began. We told you at the end of last year that RCS & RDS could increase their prices for services following the imposition of the 3% tax on turnover through GEO 114/2018, which could still be illegal, but despite this, services have become more expensive.

RCS & RDS. If that emergency ordinance will remain in force after it is challenged, the operator must cover its increased costs, otherwise it will either register a reduced profit or reduce investments to cover the new tax imposed by the Government. In this idea, the prices of RCS & RDS services increased slightly in January for new subscriptions, and from March for existing ones, the changes being moderate, taken individually.

RCS & RDS. Compared to the other telecom operators, I expect these price increases made by Digi to be small, because Orange, Telekom, Vodafone will impose bigger increases, but that's my opinion. There is a big difference here, RCS & RDS having lower prices than the rest of the telecom operators, and better services in some respects, or worse in others, but the prices are good for what they offer, and much lower than in other European countries.

Digi | RCS & RDS has invested and continues to invest in the quality of the services it provides. In recent years, the company has met the needs of its subscribers by enriching the offer of fixed and mobile electronic communications services. Also, fast and stable fiber optic Internet connection, at Gigabit standards, is provided to the most remote corners of the country. At the same time, work is constantly being done to expand the DigiMobil network and diversify services, offering facilities such as VoLTE and VoWiFi or unlimited data traffic, in the 4G network.

To respond to the continuous need for development and increase in the quality of the services that the Digi group | RCS & RDS provide them, and to react to the continuous increase in the costs they bear, the company is forced to adjust the rates. The new tariffs and services can be consulted by customers in the invoice issued in January (electronic or printed version) and on the website www.digiromania.ro.

The company said at the beginning of the year that it made investments of 2 billion euros between 2007 and 2017 to create the fiber optic infrastructure on the basis of which it offers internet and television services in Romania. Now they are increasing their prices to support their investments, and I think at some point we should have expected this even without a new tax imposed by the government, and RCS & RDS remain with prices below the competition, in some ways, even with this increase.
