Telecom. We risk ending up like Nokia or Kodak

Telecom. A worrying announcement was made by the CEO Miroslav Mojoros for the employees protesting against the layoffs made, and scheduled, by the company.

telecom transformation

Telekom. Just two days after he launched a new one spring offer, extremely bold, which directly attacks Digi Mobil with unexpectedly good prices, the operator has today confirmed the difficult problems he is going through. Today, the employees of the Telekom mobile phone operator scheduled a protest in front of the Ministry of Communications due to the dismissals of recent years, which they consider abusive and obscurely disguised, even though the state no longer fully controls the company.

Telekom. Before this protest began, the CEO of the mobile phone operator, Miroslav Majoros, sent a message to the employees who are going to express their dissatisfaction, telling them that there is a risk of ending up in the situation of the Nokia or Kodak companies. Majoros stated that there is a need for a transformation, a modernization, an improvement for the future, otherwise Telekom, like any other outdated business, risks disappearing, which we have already seen with the two previously mentioned companies.

Telekom risks ending up in the situation of Nokia, or Kodak, without continuing the transformation

Telekom. You probably already knew that the telecommunications operator started a restructuring process some time ago, as a result of which quite a few people were fired, and this is continuing at the moment. The situation is one that requires serious changes for Telekom's way of working in order to stop the loss of customers on the mobile telephony side, very large investments in the infrastructure being also announced by the company.

Last year was, unsurprisingly, a difficult new year. So before I look into the details, I want to thank you all for your efforts. Together, we tried our best, we created, we innovated, we succeeded, we made mistakes, we really believed and entered the competition to become better and have an improved performance as a business. (…) You are probably wondering what would happen if we did not go ahead with the transformation. Why not keep our traditional values, way of working, top technologies, everything that has been successful for decades? My answer is clear: obsolescence destroys any business. Famous companies like Nokia or Kodak have perished because of a lack of vision and inability to foresee the future, to take whatever action is necessary to adapt and transform.

Telekom. Investments are also being prepared for 2019 for the 5G network to be launched in Romania, everything being a natural evolution of the company, which is trying to remain relevant in an increasingly competitive environment. It will be interesting to see what will be made of this protest made by Telekom employees in front of the Ministry of Communications, especially since these layoffs were specially scheduled to be able to prepare money for other investments.
