Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), is preparing to launch a competitor for Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, and other video streaming services, the American company investing hundreds of millions of dollars in creating movies and series for him. It seems that this new video streaming service is going to be officially presented by Apple at a conference that will take place on March 25, but unfortunately we are talking about a competitor that will have higher prices than Netflix.
Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), would ask for $15 a month for a subscription to its video streaming service, that is, a little more than Netflix, and more than other services that are available in the US, and many other areas around the world. In Romania, the price is higher than that of the cheapest subscription for Netflix, but since Apple will not launch the service in Romania, we should not worry too much about it, yet.
Apple will launch a competitor to Netflix, but at an expensive subscription
Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), it will not, at the beginning, have enough of its own original content, and this means that it will have to provide access to third-party content, but there is a problem here, because there is no "money" deal with the big US production houses. Basically, this is Apple's big problem, access to content that people really want, and all the rumors so far indicate that it has not managed to secure enough content from third-party producers.
To figure out the potential of the video service, which Apple widely expected to launch next month, O'Shea estimated that Apple would charge customers $15 a month for the offering and would take a 30% cut of the revenue, giving the rest to video production partners. If the service were extremely successful and hit 250 million subscribers, it would yield $13.5 billion in revenue for Apple. That's nothing to sneeze at. After all, Netflix's total sales last year were $15.8 billion.
Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), has been working for several years on this on-demand video streaming service, with which to compete with the Netflix company, but as its launch approaches, we learn how weak it is going to be. If Apple will have the same problems with this service that it had with Apple Music, in the fight with Spotify, then Netflix has nothing to fear, because Apple will not soon be a competitor to be with really fear, unfortunately for us.
