RCS & RDS, the second largest telecommunications group in Romania, based on revenues recorded during 2018, is at the center of a very important announcement for customers in the country. At the beginning of last month, those from RCS & RDS announced a price increase for the services they offer in Romania, and this is due to the adoption of GEO 114/2018 by the Romanian Government, which introduces a new turnover tax, which had to be covered.
RCS & RDS, slightly increased the prices for almost all the services it offers in Romania, the aim being to cover its operating costs, but also the investments in its future 5G telephone network. The price increase applied by RCS & RDS for its services has been applied since January for new contracts signed by customers, but those who are already customers of the company will feel the price increase only from March 1.
RCS & RDS increases prices for everyone from March 1
RCS & RDS, stated that starting from March 1, all existing customers at the time the price increase was announced, will have this change applied to the monthly invoice they receive from the company. All those who are dissatisfied with the new prices for RCS & RDS services will have the opportunity to cancel them within a maximum of one month from the moment they receive the invoice with the new price, so everyone has the option to leave, if they want.
RCS & RDS, is currently the first telecommunications group to increase its prices for services due to GEO 114/2018, those from Telekom threatening for now only with the possibility of refusing to participate in the 5G frequency auction. It is hard to say now if RCS & RDS will make a similar threat, but it is very possible that other operators will do it, or increase their prices and avoid arguing with the Romanian Government in a battle that, probably, I can't win.
