Huawei P30 PRO at iDevice.ro, FIRST IMPRESSIONS

Huawei P30 PRO arrived at iDevice.ro, and these are my first impressions about the new smartphone model, here's what you need to know about it.

Huawei P30 PRO impressions

Huawei P30 PRO has arrived at iDevice.ro, the latest premium smartphone launched by the Huawei company being the one that comes with important prizes in terms of integrated cameras. Huawei P30 PRO was officially launched last Friday in Romania, being a very serious competitor for Samsung GALAXY S10, or iPhone XS, and from what I observed, the Chinese manage to keep up with the competition, even more than that .

Huawei P30 PRO arrived at iDevice.ro through the Orange Smartphone Tester program, which will help you test some of the newest smartphone models even before they are launched in Romania. At the moment, the Huawei P30 PRO can be bought from Orange Romania via this page, but of course you can also find it at other operators, including other online stores in Romania, so you can buy it wherever you want.

Design, screen, performance

The Huawei P30 PRO is about the same height as the iPhone XS Max, having a screen with the same diagonal of 6.5 inches, but because it also includes the edges bent towards the case, it is narrower and a little more difficult to use with one hand. Leaving these aside, the quality of the images displayed by the two screens is very difficult to distinguish, the Huawei P30 PRO displaying everything as well as the iPhone XS Max, and I think that only a professional test can show the differences.

The design of the Huawei P30 PRO is similar, from many points of view, to that of last year's version, it does not "put me on the back", especially as it takes elements from the design of Samsung Galaxy phones, with a bent screen. However, I really like the "color" Breathing Crystal, in which the Huawei P30 PRO unit sent by Orange came, and I have to admit that I would very much like to see colors like this on the iPhone.

I could not say that I am a big fan of the flattened edges, at the top/bottom, the Huawei P30 PRO surprisingly coming with such a design, the previous models being devoid of ideas of this kind. On the other hand, the camera has an interesting design, and it makes the Huawei P30 PRO stand out from other phones, but only when you start using it do you realize how big the difference is compared to the iPhone XS, from certain points of view.

I didn't have any problems with the performance, although Android is a bit stubborn not to run without problems in some situations.

Quad camera, in-screen fingerprint reader

Huawei P30 PRO camera impressions

The Huawei P30 PRO has an optical fingerprint reader integrated into the screen, and the unlocking is not faster, but not slower than in the case of Face ID, the difference is still that it is much more accurate. If in the case of Face ID we had many misses, and I have said this in the comments to the articles, in the case of the fingerprint reader of the Huawei P30 PRO we have not encountered problems of this kind, which is gratifying for the future of technologies of this kind .

The quad camera is the star change in the Huawei P30 PRO, and compared to the one in the iPhone XS it is much better, but I will come back with a photo comparison in a later article. From what I tested, the wide-angle sensor makes taking photos with the Huawei P30 PRO much better when you want to capture more of what's around you, and the portrait photos are much better than with the iPhone XS thanks to the integrated ToF sensor in the new room.

Pictures taken at night or in low light conditions are much, much better than with the iPhone, especially when the light is very low, Huawei P30 PRO having image sensors and amazing software. The speed with which the Huawei P30 PRO takes pictures should not be overlooked either, the Apple phones being slower, but the quality is what matters, and here I was impressed by what the Huawei phone offers, although the pictures are taken at only 10 megapixels from the 40 of the main camera.

That's it for now, I'll come back with an article on a photo comparison with the iPhone XS, and then with a review, but I'm very pleasantly impressed by the camera, and I think that if the Huawei P30 PRO had iOS, the world would have forgotten about the iPhone.
