Apple REDUCES Autonomous Car Tests

Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC),, in a completely surprising way, decided to reduce the number of autonomous cars that it has in the process of testing on the streets of California at the moment. If at the end of last month Apple had 72 autonomous cars on the streets of the American state, the number was reduced to 69 at the beginning of this month, the number of drivers also falling from 144 to 110.

This is the first time that the Apple company reduces the number of autonomous cars that circulate on the streets of California to test its autonomous guidance software. The reduction leaves Apple with only half of the autonomous cars that Google is testing through the company Waymo, which it has owned for several years, but with more than Tesla, which has 47 cars.

The news comes after Apple announced in February that it has the highest number of deactivations of the autonomous guidance system among all the companies that do such tests. It is possible that the decision to reduce the number of autonomous cars on the streets has to do with software problems, but it is also possible that some cars have technical problems, or maybe the equipment on them.

Apple has also reduced by several hundred employees the number of engineers working on the software for autonomous guidance used in its cars, so things seem to be quite clear regarding the future of the project.
