At the beginning of this year, the telecommunications operator increased the prices for the services it currently offers in Romania, the change coming just a few weeks after GEO 114/2018 was adopted. Then those from Digi | RCS&RDS said that the price increase is due to the increase in costs they have in Romania, but everyone understood that the emergency ordinance was the catalyst that forced this change.

Now the CEO of the group, Serghei Bulgac, says again that the decision to raise prices is based on the fact that the group is facing increasing operating costs, but also that the euro has increased, or that more money is needed investments. According to the group's CEO, Digi | RCS&RDS would not have changed the prices in Romania for 10 years, that is, from February to March 2009, and that an adjustment was necessary to further support the operation and investments.

Digi | RCS&RDS. Serghei Bulgac also stated that there are increases in salaries, and the turnover tax would have an impact of only 18-20 million euros on the taxes that the company has to pay. Even if Digi | RCS&RDS planned to increase the prices of the services at some point, it is as clear as possible that GEO 114/2018 hastened things, because we are talking about almost 20 million euros disappearing from the company's profit.

Only those from Telekom made it clear that they are increasing prices due to GEO 114/2018, but the rest of the telecommunications operators masked the changes with various explanations, Vodafone already taking a fine. Digi | RCS&RDS tried to avoid this, and even tried to cooperate with the authorities to make changes to the ordinance, providing clear explanations regarding the price increases applied for services in Romania.
