macOS 10.15 Catalina has been Announced, here are the News

macOS 10.15 was officially presented by Apple today, and there is a lot of news for Mac users.

macOS 10.15

macOS 10.15 Catalina. The operating system for Apple's Macs has a lot of important news announced this evening for customers who use computers around the world. We are talking about one of the two important operating systems that Apple develops, macOS 10.15 allowing the development of iOS by the engineers from Cupertino, but also many, many other great things.

iTunes

iTunes is split in macOS 10.15 Catalina into three separate applications, Apple Music, Apple Podcasts, and Apple TV.

The rumors that said that iTunes will disappear turned into a division of the application into three separate ones, each of them bringing something much more useful and more complex.

Removing iTunes forces users to control their iPhones directly from the Finder on Mac, but in Windows, that disappears completely.

The new Apple TV app on Mac brings support for 4K HDR movie playback.

Sidecar

macOS 10.15 Catalina brings the ability to turn iPad tablets into secondary screens for Macs, as some rumors have told us. Exactly as some third-party applications have been allowing for several years, macOS 10.15 Catalina will bring this functionality natively.

Voice Control

macOS 10.15 Catalina, but also iOS 13, bring the option to control both computers and phones, using only voice commands.

Practically, both macOS 10.15 Catalina and iOS 13 will be able to have all functions controlled by voice commands instead of touches, something that offers completely new accessibility functionality for users.

Find My

Find My iPhone and Find my Friends are combined in a dedicated application in macOS 10.15 Catalina, but also in iOS 13.

The interesting part is that Find My can also locate iDevices that are closed, all using Bluetooth, but only if there are other Apple products nearby. Of course, macOS 10.15 Catalina and iOS 13 must have already been pre-installed in these terminals for everything to work.

Activation Lock

The system that blocks iPhone phones with Find my iPhone also arrives in macOS 10.15 Catalina. This means that a stolen Mac can no longer be activated if it was active in Find my Mac, at least until it is unlocked from iCloud.

Project Catalyst

macOS 10.15 Catalina will allow the development of applications for Mac by simply modifying those for iPhone using a special software created by Apple.
