After screens with a high refresh rate, Apple Pencil or more RAM memory, those from Apple are implementing, for the first time for their products, a ToF, depth sensor, the iPad Pro 2020 will have one integrated for the main camera.
The iPad Pro is not exactly a product that you would expect to take very good pictures, or at least to take pictures, but Apple wants to bring a ToF image sensor to its tablets before the iPhone. The new models of the iPad Pro will be launched at the beginning of 2020 by the Apple company, so there will be time for the implementation of the ToF sensor in the iPhone 12.

The iPhone 12 is also announced for launch with a new ToF sensor, so the iPhone 12 will have a quad camera next year, outpacing most of the current competition. Both on the iPhone 12 and on the iPad Pro 2020, the new ToF sensor will improve the ability to record great photos with a depth effect, but will also offer an extension for functionality based on augmented reality.
As expected, all iPad Pro models will have integrated ToF, while in the case of the iPhone 12, only the Pro models will have this fourth ToF image sensor, which is quite normal. ToF image sensors are not cheap, and the implementation only in iPad Pro and iPhone 12 Pro is justified by the high sales prices that are imposed for these models of phones and tablets sold by the Apple company.
iPad Pro and iPhone 12 Pro with ToF sensors will expand the functionality offered by the current models, but it remains to be seen how exactly Apple will decide to use these components.
